[Music]
I love coming into work now more than
I've ever done in my life um I just love
the company we have
now rer wasn't really born it sort of
slowly
[Music]
evolved whether it's a Revival or not
I'm not sure it didn't die for us um I
mean we we in
our major Heyday where we were just
making turntables in the late 70s and
early 80s I think we were
making oh probably 2,000 a month on a
good month and um it then dropped down
to less than a th000 a month in a bad
month we were probably making 5 or
600 um and now we're making 4 4 and a
half thousand a month and that growth
has happened over the Last 5 Years where
the company's tripled in size in in 5
years the beginning
um it was growing over 50% every year
but then that's very easy from
nothing um and then the growth uh
started to tail off and we had to become
professional we had to learn about
running companies and being business
people it's the quality of the product
that for us is the most important thing
not the country it's made in but to get
high quality you need to work locally
we've always had a very
strong but
controversial inside company policy of
not advertising ourselves and not uh
marketing as such it's been probably a
very naive misplaced ideal that we spend
the marketing Budget on the product the
product therefore becomes better and
people beat a path to your door and
record store day was the first time that
we felt that sponsoring the Record Store
Day in the UK and the money we spent
doing it added a
worthwhile uh inclusion into the market
for records and record players and us um
and our retailers worldwide what's been
wonderful is that they've been
cooperating with record stores so we've
had Hi-Fi dealers getting together with
their local record stores and
individually creating their own products
within their own towns that's something
we've been pushing ever since we've
being a small company but it's never
happened it's always nice to relieve the
boredom uh it's great to find um ways of
putting beautiful artistic designs onto
a square product that's a turntable it's
been huge fun within the company
developing the individual designs and
it's been huge fun for the retailers the
first year we had well-known singer sign
10 of the term tables and those those
were secreted into the whole quantity
and and customers didn't know if they
were going to get one of the signed
products and that created a huge Buzz
for me you know mischievous marketing
like that is fun and it it's helped a
lot in in moral support I
think
